“If a man accidentally conceives a child with a woman, and does not want to
raise the child with her, what are his choices? Surprisingly, he has few options in the United States.” This is the central question raised by
this New York Times piece regarding “forced” fatherhood. The article discusses men’s rights vs. women’s rights when it comes to having a child that neither parent necessarily wanted nor expected. I don’t agree with some of the article’s central points, especially in regard to these fathers (and yes, regardless of how it happened, if you have a kid, you are the father, deal with it) not having to pay
child support in some situations, but this is an interesting article nonetheless.
