Housekeeping - Charlotte and the Democratic National Convention

As you might have heard, the Democratic National Convention will be landing on Charlotte, NC next week, September 3-7, 2012. Regardless of your political affiliation or ideological leanings, the DNC is coming and will certainly leave its mark as one of the biggest and most closely-watched events in Charlotte’s history (although, apparently, not THE biggest event). As a law firm located only a few short minutes from where the Convention will be taking place, we are excited about the potential impact the DNC could have on our fair city.

However, from a logistical standpoint – namely, hosting a sitting President and Vice President, as well as tens of thousands of delegates and protesters – it’s going to be tough getting around Charlotte for the next several days. Uptown (our version of “downtown”) will face daily road closures, and traffic around town is expected to be staggering. The Mecklenburg County Courthouse will be operating on a limited schedule, but there will be some courtrooms open and available for emergencies. If you have an appointment scheduled with our office this week, it’s probably best to add 30-45 minutes to your trip, depending on where you are coming from. If you have any questions, give us a call or email usand we’d be happy to help.
